It´s time to discover a new flavour for our future - sustainability has never tasted better!
A. Sampaio’s mindset for sustainability brings
new fruits to the table. Both being sub-products of the food industry, banana
and pineapple fibres offer a wide variety of advantages.
Without
affecting or changing the cultivation process, we can repurpose the shrub´s
leaves that would otherwise be viewed as superfluous. As a consequence, there
is no crop waste on the harvest process of these vegetable fibres. Banana and
pineapple fibres originate from the shrub´s leaves.
When rivalling with cotton,
these fibres do not require more water to be grown because they are a natural
product of the fruits´ cultivation. Their resistance also overcomes the
strength of the cotton. Plus, no chemicals are added to develop the leaves
growth, therefore protecting our environment.
Their textile application
withdraws the necessity to burn those leaves, avoiding the emission of black
carbon. The soils long-term fertility will be preserved as well, supporting the
absence of chemicals. These eco-friendly fibres are 100% biodegradable and are
dyeable in a wide range of colours.
A. Sampaio has chosen to combine banana and
pineapple fibres with organic cotton, extending our textile plethora of
possibilities. With great social and economic
