This move
joins the Seaqual Initiative, Epson, Lisbon School of Design and INEDIT Design,
and aims to create a circular production model, which begins with the
collection of plastic from the sea and ends with the recycling of clothing, in
a process that values the design.
After the plastic
materials are collected from the coast of Barcelona by the city´s fishermen´s
association, the Seaqual Initiative proceeds to transform them into Seaqual
yarns, which are used by textile companies, such as A. Sampaio, to produce
knits with different qualities and textures.
"Environmental, economic and social sustainability is one of the cornerstones of our performance as a company. Regarding environmental sustainability, we place great importance on the raw materials used, as well as on the way we process them. The B-SEArcular project fits perfectly to our vision of sustainability, so it assumes strategic importance in this area", says João Mendes, CEO of A. Sampaio.
